Day 1 – By air to Italy
This morning your holiday begins as you fly with British Airways to the eternal city of Rome. On arrival at Rome’s Fiumicino airport make your own way (payable locally) to your stylish hotel for the next three nights, the highly-rated Boutique Hotel Liberty (4 star).
Days 2 and 3 – Rome
There is something to tantalise all tastes seemingly round every corner of this most magical of cities. Whilst in Rome choose among the stunning array of sights from the Vatican City to the Trevi Fountain, the Coliseum to the Spanish Steps. Relax with a ‘gelato’ on Piazza Navona or while away the hours shopping on Via del Corso. Make sure you take the time to see Michelangelo’s masterpiece in the Sistene Chapel. The view from the top of St.Peter’s Cathedral over the seven hills of Rome will provide abiding memories of this wonderful city.
Day 4 – Rome to Naples and onward to Sorrento on the Bay of Naples
This morning after breakfast make your own way back to Roma Termini station. Here you board the high-speed Eurostar Italia service for the journey south to Naples. Sit back and watch the world go by or simply revel in the romanticism of rail travel across Europe. On arrival at Naples station a private taxi will transfer you to Sorrento on the beautiful Bay of Naples to your hotel for the next 4 nights, the wonderful Hotel Bristol (4 star) located just up the hill from the centre of Sorrento and with fabulous views of the Bay of Naples.
Days 5, 6 and 7 – Sorrento, the Bay of Naples, Capri and the Amalfi Coast
From your base in Sorrento there are plenty of options available to you. You might like to take a boat to the legendary island of Capri, popular with many famous stars, with its incredible blue grotto or along the dazzling Amalfi Coast to the pretty village of Positano, perched above the sea, as if glued to the cliffside. Alternatively visit Pompeii or Herculaneum, poignant reminders of the brooding Vesuvius which still looms above them today.
Day 8 – Naples to London – Homeward bound
This morning after breakfast your private taxi transfers you to Naples airpiort. Here you board your international flight back to London with British Airways. As you head through the clouds, the landscape below is a blur at times, though memories abide as you return to London Heathrow and the final leg of your journey home.
The Liberty Boutique Hotel (4 star) enjoys a convenient location just 500 metres from Roma Termini station.
