Day 1 – London to Switzerland aboard the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express

As you board the gleaming carriages of the Belmond British Pullman train at London Victoria station, your steward will show you to your reserved seat. Sit back and enjoy a Brunch with Bellini as you travel through the Kentish countryside. On arrival in Folkestone you are escorted by uniformed staff via coach to Cheriton to board the Eurotunnel train to France. After crossing the channel board the distinctive blue and gold carriages of the Continental Wagons-Lits.

Throughout your journey you will be attended by your own personal steward. After you have settled into your comfortable private compartment it will soon be time to dress for dinner. Why not sip a pre-dinner cocktail before making your way to one of the magnificent restaurant cars. Here you will be served a delicious four-course dinner, prepared by skilled French chefs. After dinner you may want to linger in the bar car, listening to the sound of the baby grand piano. When you are ready, retire to your compartment, which has now been transformed into a cosy bedroom.

Day 2 – Through the Swiss Alps to Venice

You awake to the magnificent scenery of the Swiss Alps as breakfast is served in your compartment at a time to suit you. Choose to spend the morning in the Bar Car chatting to fellow guests over coffee or relax and gaze out at the fabulous views from the comfort of your seat. Enjoy a leisurely three-course lunch served in another of the beautiful restaurant cars. This afternoon you may choose to visit the on board Boutique to purchase souvenirs, while away the hours in conversation or take it easy in your compartment and admire passing scenery as the train travels through Switzerland and into Italy. Later, afternoon tea is served in your compartment as you travel through towards Verona. All too soon it is time to prepare to disembark as the train crosses the Venetian Lagoon and pulls into Venice Santa Lucia station where a private water taxi transfers you in style to your hotel.

Day 3 – Incomparable Venice

Step out in Venice and allow this unique and captivating city to carry where it will. Enjoy Venice, at dusk and after dark when all the crowds have gone home. From St. Mark’s Square to the Rialto Bridge, a gondola ride on the Grand Canal to a visit inside the stunning Doges Palace, feel yourself unwind as you wander amid the myriad of canals along blissfully traffic-free alleyways and campi (squares). You have plenty of time to discover the city’s luminous quality which emanates from the colours of its painted palazzo, ornate stone bridges and Byzantine basilicas all reflected against the tapestry of canals and lagoons. A short boat ride will lead you to pretty islands on the lagoon, including Murano, home of glass-blowing and colourful Burano, where lace and linen abound.

Day 4 – Free-time in Venice – Venice to Prague aboard the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express

Today you have the whole morning and most of the afternoon free for further exploration of this wonderful city. Savour your final morning in Venice before your private water taxi transfer re-unites you with the rest of the world as you return to Venice Santa Lucia station to board your luxury train once more.

As you board the distinctive blue and gold carriages of the Continental Wagons-Lits at Venice Santa Lucia station,your personal steward will show you to your reserved seat and attend to you throughout your journey. You may wish to have a cocktail in the Bar Car before the next gastronomic highlight: another lavish four-course dinner, prepared on board by the skilled French chefs. After dinner you may wish to visit the convivial Bar Car for a brandy or liqueur before retiring to your cabin for the night.


Day 5 – Arrival in Prague

Breakfast is served in your compartment and you have the morning at leisure before your afternoon arrival in Prague. Here you make your own way to your hotel for the next 2 nights, the stylish and highly-rated Hotel General, situated close to the Vltava River in a quiet location close to many of Prague’s major attractions.

Day 6 – Discover Prague

You have a full day to explore Prague. Why not head for the lovely Old Town with its attractive squares and narrow streets. Among the highlights of this beautiful city are the Old Town Square, Charles Bridge, Prague Castle, the Josefov Jewish Quarter and Wenceslas Square. In the evening you might like to experience some of Prague’s vibrant nightlife and famous Pilsner beer.

Day 7 – Prague through Europe to France

This morning after breakfast you have some free time for further exploration of beautiful Prague or perhaps some last-minute souvenir shopping. Then make your way back to your hotel for your transfer to Prague Smichov station to re-join the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, as you settle back into your private compartment a delicious afternoon tea is served by your personal steward in the comfort of your compartment. Choose to spend some time in the Bar Car chatting to fellow guests over coffee or relax and gaze out at the changing landscape from the comfort of your seat. Later a leisurely four course dinner is served, prepared on board by skilled French chefs. Enjoy a brandy or liqueur with convivial company in the Bar Car before retiring for the night.

Day 8 – Arrival into Paris – Paris to London

Breakfast is served in your cabin by your steward at a time to suit you. The train pulls into Paris Gare de l’Est and halts for 30 minutes. Take this opportunity to stretch your legs along the platform and watch the bustling activity; passengers boarding, chefs choosing produce for brunch, Parisians coming and going. A delicious brunch is served in the restaurant cars as you travel on towards the French coast for the Channel crossing.
Join the gleaming cream and umber carriages of the Belmond British Pullman for the journey to London.
Afternoon High Tea, accompanied by a glass of champagne, is served to you at your table as you travel through the Kentish countryside. All too soon it is time to prepare to disembark as your train draws into London Victoria station and the final leg of your journey home.
